For whatever reason Ford decided to retain the previous year's undersized intercooler pump wiring and up the ante with a larger, more powerful pump.
This is the jumper harness Ford used to power the intercooler pump, a case where size really does matter.
Once the wire begins to fail from this known issue the next thing that usually happens is the flat 6 pin MAF connector body melts.
Sometimes rendering it unusable, at that point you have no choice but to cut the connector out and replace it.
These connectors melted together and would not come apart even using pliers!
It is easy enough to check for damage if the connector isn't obviously melted.
This is a good thing! It means you're in front of the impending damage and have the chance to address the issue BEFORE it is a major headache.
As you can see here the outside pin used for the intercooler pump ground is beginning to burn the connector.
This is where the Wire Everything 13/14 GT500 Intercooler Repair Harness comes in.
This product completely removes the electrical load from the original wiring, and instead passes it through a relay.
The car's original wiring only serves to trigger the repair harness once installed.
The simple installation can be handled by anyone with basic hand tools in about 30 minutes.
*START BY DISSCONNECTING THE BATTERY*
After removing the radiator cover the installation mostly consists of routing the harness. Starting by securing the relay near the driver side headlight, then lay out your route in each direction. Makre sure when you are doing this that the harness has plenty of slack, isn't pulled over any sharp edges, and is as out of sight as possible.
The radiator cover is the large plastic panel covering the hood latch.
100% plug and play this harness pugs inline in place of the adapter harness used by Ford to fit the 13/14 GT500 intercooler pump. This allows the PCM to control the pump just as intended by Ford while transferring the electrical load to the repair harness. Connecting power and ground is all that is left after that!
Our harness plugs in place of the puny jumper harness at the pump to providing full battery voltage.
After discreetly routing your repair harness power side over to the fuse box, connect the red power wire to the fuse box power stud and ground the black wire to the passenger shock tower using the OEM grounding point for the battery.
This customer decided to add a small section of loom to the ground wire making it disappear into the OEM wiring.
